Adult Oculoplastics
The oculoplastics sub-specialty saves vision and saves lives. A significant portion of skin cancers occur around the eyelid region. Removal and skin cancers and restoration of the eyelid function and symmetry is one of the main reasons patients seek oculoplastics services. Other common conditions concerning the oculoplastic specialty include dermatochalasis (droopy eyelid skin) ptosis (droopy eyelid), nasolacrimal duct obstruction (watery eyes) and thyroid eye diseases

Paediatric Oculoplastics
Disease and alterations of the structures around the eyes may affect vision, either by direct occlusion or indirectly by affecting the tearing system, or (mis)alignment of the eyes. Children require special attention in oculoplastic assessment and management because the same processes leading to temporary vision impairment in adults may lead to permanent changes in children’s vision (amblyopia).
